OnionShare is distributed as a free and open source application. It works on all modern Windows platforms and it can be installed in under a minute. The application works in tandem with Tor Browser, so you need to have it installed and running on your computer.

Sharing data is a straightforward operation. All you have to do is drag and drop your files or folders over OnionShare's compact user interface and click a button. This will start a Tor Onion service, which is why you will need to have Tor Browser running when you start sharing.

Once your data is shared, the application will generate a share link automatically, which you can copy to the clipboard with a single click. If you wish to send the data to someone, you only need to copy and send the share link. However, the link can only be used on Tor Browser. When you paste the link, the browser will immediately take you to a download page, where you can click a button to retrieve the shared file.

Shared data is available for download as long as OnionShare is running. You can stop sharing the files just by clicking a Stop button. Additionally, you can set the application to create a Stealth Onion service and to automatically stop sharing after the first download.
